Bobcaygeon is known as the “Hub of the Kawarthas” is home of the first constructed lock on the Trent Severn Canal system: which functions as  The Hub of the village making it the center of attraction for tourists many of whom enjoy the activity at  lock and watching the boats pass through.

Located on the upper side of the lock is Sturgeon Lake.

Sturgeon is also home to the Village of Fenelon Falls and the Town of Lindsay all part of the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Fed upstream by Cameron Lake via the Fenelon River (Fenelon Falls)  and Lake Scugog via the Scugog River (Lindsay). In Bobcaygeon, Sturgeon Lake flows into Pigeon Lake via Big Bob Channel (and the locks) and Little Bob channel.
